McLaren used a 120-degree angle in preference to the usual 60- or 90-degree angles to flatten the engine out in the interest of a lower center of gravity and better engine cooling. It also allows more space for the V-mounted turbochargers. The V6 engine is also 110 pounds lighter than the existing McLaren V8.
